Quilter's JEM Summer Moon Quilt-Along - Week 2

Quilter's JEM Summer Moon Quilt-Along 2019-2020

Hello!
This week our block is the Churn Dash, an old friend to many of us. Last week's Album Block was a scrappy one, but this week we are working with a bit more of a planned color scheme: the corner triangles are all the same fabric, as are the rectangles that connect them, with a coordinating square in the middle. Of course, if you prefer, you can make those fabrics all different, maybe just staying in the same color family for the triangles and a different color family in the rectangles. Your center square could even be the same as your background (turning your Churn Dash into a Hole in the Barn Door!).

You may find the piecing easier, particularly for the 5" block, if you cut pieces A and C larger than directed in the book - half an inch to an inch bigger. Not only does this mean you don't have to squint to see the eighths inch markings on your ruler, but also you can then trim down the half square triangles to the correct size. Even if you don't do this, your BlocLoc ruler and Itty Bitty Eights ruler will be lifesavers!

Remember, if you post a picture of your blocks in IG, use the hashtags above so we can find and love your photos! Next week: the Fool's Puzzle Block!

Happy Sewing!
