News from Quilter's JEM for the week of 3/12/20
1525 Central Ave NW / East Grand Forks MN 56721 / (218) 399-0159 / www.quiltersjem.com
Hello Friends!
We aren't quite out of winter yet, but I'm hearing people begin to talk about planning summer trips. For many, the classic summer road trip is to a National Park, with a goal to visit as many as possible, from the obscure ones to the most famous. If this sounds familiar, well, we've got a quilt for that!
Our kit uses Riley Blake's National Parks panel, which has the parks marked on a map of the US and a mini-poster for each park along the border. We've matched it with a green tone-on-tone featuring park signs and a word print with the park names. We added a fabric with a classic wood-paneled station wagon for accents. We think it would be fun to embroider a star or heart around the places you've visited on the map, or your route if you've made an epic National Parks trip!
Another new kit coming this week is for this beautiful quilt. Using a pattern from the book A Country's Call - a book full of beautiful patterns and fascinating historical vignettes and featuring fabrics from Kim Diehl's line Liberty Star!
Also new in the shop, for a completely different kind of vacation, is glow-in-the-dark space-themed fabric from Lewis & Irene! Light Years is a fun collection - below I'll show you the fabric as it looks normally, followed by what you see when you turn out the lights! (Who wants to have the coolest pillowcase at sleep-away camp this summer?!)
We also have fabulous rainbow mini-charm packs from Free Spirit. 75- 2.5" squares in all, and a free pattern available for downloading (Chain Charm). Or, use them for a project of your own design!
If you're looking for a charitable project for yourself or your small group, we recently heard from Altru's Cancer Center that they are in desperate need of port pillows. Often, people receiving chemo have ports installed to make delivery easier, but seatbelts and even bra straps can cause pressure on the ports, which can range from annoying to painful. Check out the pattern by clicking here - this project is quick, easy, and much appreciated by those who need them!
